yamahatzr50declan Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hi there, i am new to the forum, and i have a problem with my yamaha tzr50 2004. My bike has been running badly ever since i perchaced it and i have been trying to track down the problem for weeks in the end i took of the flywheel cover and i cheked the timing with a flash light and it was stuck at 24 degrees. I think this is too far advanced and that it is meant to change when the bike is revved up. Aslo the rev counter jumps around all the time so i think that it is the cdi that is broken. Also the stator is 12v and has 12 coils instead of the usual 6 on most of the am6 engines. could anyone suggest what to do? many thanks Declan

Moderator Airhead Posted January 4, 2012 Moderator Posted January 4, 2012 24 degrees @2000rpm is correct it should start to reduce at 4000rpm to a final 20 degrees @ 12000 rpm yeah read my signature line
yamahatzr50declan Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 okay, my timing is not reducing at all so i asume that this is a cdi problem is this correct? cheers
