RubySR Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 Hi all, Went to start my SR125 this morning and no electricals , no neutral light, headlights etc. I then noticed that I'd left the light switch on since last use (14 hours). When I turn the engine off the lights turn off automatically, but would the light switch being left on have caused the battery to drain?
NEV Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 No Ruby it wouldn't, although an alarm or an immobiliser would, do you have one on the bike? if not, it sounds like the fault is your battery, or the magneto not charging the battery back up, take the battery off and charge it fully and see if its keeping its charge.
Moderator Airhead Posted October 20, 2011 Moderator Posted October 20, 2011 how old is the bike, you havent listed it in your profile? I assume its one of the old 6v battery models like my DT
YPVS TONE Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 I seem to remember they were 12V as they only had electric start.
Moderator Airhead Posted October 20, 2011 Moderator Posted October 20, 2011 Ahh right Tony, not familiar Dunno Ruby but check the rectifier, or regulator/rectifier perhaps
RubySR Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 It's a 12v, turns out that the battery wasn't secured in it's tray and the connection had loosened. Always happy when a problem costs nothing to replace
