Hi all,

I have a Yamaha XJ600 and recently found that the rear brake was sticking, I removed the caliper to check it and one of the pistons has seized solid.

Any suggestions on how to remove it? I've tried heating the caliper, penetrating oil and air pressure but nothing sems to work.

Also if the piston does defy my efforts to remove and replace it, will a rear caliper from another model fit my bike or does it have to be for an xj600 (I think FJ, FZ and YX600 models are the same but not sure).

Cheers

Norton

I used a grease nipple, I think it was a unf thread so not an exact fit so don't go mad and wind it right in it was just a gash one I had at the bottom of my toolbox, then just attach a grease gun and pump away until the piston is pushed out

Other calipers may fit but I have no idea what ones
