JohnPK Posted August 26, 2011 Share Posted August 26, 2011 I recently fitted new ignition coils to my 1980 xj650. Bike now starts fine and will tickover at 1000-1200 rpm all day. Trouble is getting the revs to go any higher, it misfires and splutters when you open the throttle and when it eventually hist around 2000 revs the power kicks in really suddenly. nothing appears to be sticking but obviously something's wrong. I'm not sure it's related to the coils. it may be because the bike sat in my shed for 6 weeks before the new coils were fitted? any ideas? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
