my 99 650 vstar is going to need a new speedo, its going to be the easyest way to get it legal, does anyone know if one from a different year is a straght swap, or do i need a 99

Should be a straight swap.

The '98 down the road and my own Mrs's 2001 both have the same speedo as me.

they all look same, i just dont know if they all fit the same, electronically, some of them are listed as o4 and up and so on

there is a 99 for sale..... from the usa, but thats a pain in the ass

was hoping someone might have actually swapped one out at some point so i would know

Well the above mentioned speedos all have the same electrical connectors as my bike, so I don't see any difference. I've had all three off and they all could be swapped over.

intresting... i might take a punt and try buy a newer one then

seeing as some are lised as 04-upwards i'll go for a 03 or older i spose

this is if i can even find one, they are really on the fleebay
