Finally my bike is nearly ready for its first MOT in 15years! :)

I've brought it back from the dead with help from many in this forum...... :D

...however as always things are never simple!

I'm missing 2 spokes from the rear wheel! 2 SPOKES!!! which is an MOT failure i believe. Spoke to Yamaha, and they dont sell individual spokes, only packs, which means spending £25 on a load of spokes i dont need!

Does anybody have any spare knocking about?? I've never been so desparate from some thing so minor!

(DT125LC Mk3 18inch Rear Wheel Spokes)

You should be able to get these from a pattern parts dealer.

Try somewhere else like Suzuki or (ahem) a honda dealer

You could also try Breaking 125 in Aldershot 01252 330060 he will put them in the post for you if he has them, there is also Bernie's on 01252 330742 they both break bikes.

Thanks dragon lady, i gave them both a call but no luck.

As jimjam suggested trying another make, I managed to find 1 spoke on ebay for a honda CG125 which is rear drum brake and an 18inch wheel, so fingers crossed. If it works then i'll see if i can get another from a dealer.

As a last resort, i've got some spare front wheel spokes, so i may cut them to length and make a tread on the end and see how that goes!

Very frustrating! :banghead:

Thanks again people, i'll keep you posted on my progress.

Don't overtighten them cos you could put your wheel out of true.

Hi people,

I got my spoke today, i paid £12 (delivered) for 10 galvinised spokes and nipples!

Gonna whack 'em on on the weekend and go for an MOT!!

..they'll probably tell me theres something structurely wrong with the bike and it will never pass an MOT!! LOL... :(

One quick question...A parking light isnt required for MOT is it??

Full beam and dipped are fine, its just i removed the parking light cus of a dodgy connection.

Thoughts??

Yeah, i fitted front and back. I had some cheap ones i got from thailand, which were about £1.20 and another set from ebay at about £3.

It was just the battery that needed to be connected. After that, all the electrics were fine. (fingers crossed, they stay that way!)

Have you got any pictures of the new-to-you bike?
