never done mine mate NEV's your best bet. Cant you clear the water out with it in? it will save lots of time.

Apart from removing the chain, all electrical plugs disconnected and pipes too I dont see whats your problem really

It's a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question that one jony, depends on what bolts are seized, mainly, and what you have to do to get them off, mate, my main problem wasn't just a couple of the main engine mounting bolts being seized, luckily I have a cordless impact gun, impact driver to get them out, but the swingarm spindle that goes through the back of the engine also being absolutely seized up solid, to the point where I had to cut the swingarm off with an ultra thin cutting disc,on a 4" grinderette, either side of the engine at the back, .

I reckon 'ball park',start to finish, would take a good afternoon, but on a bike thats been maintained and the bolts nicely greased up previously, poss 2 hours.

One thing I do reccomend you do firstly though is document/take pics of which bolts came from where, label all wires somehow, I coded mine with small black or white cable ties(stay on better in parafin bath)

Presumably you have a manual to help you too? for torque settings etc?

Hope this helps somewhat, have a butchers on my project thread see if that's some use too. ;)

Have you ever had it running jon? why did you buy it ?

I haven't seen it running but my best mate has and it was a quick bike. but the guy i bought it off let his step dad try and strip the bike ie wires and took all the lights off and messed about with the carb as it was running funny. and took the power valve unit off. and it never started again. so i thought i would buy it for a project for £300 with v5. i just don't know what to try next.

ok then I can see that you are unable to grasp that we want you to keep to one thread for this so I guess we'll just have to continue with this thread with the wrong title!!!

so start at the beginning,

Compression?

Spark?

Fuel?

I must say that after a layoff ( winter for example) my DTR was a right tw4t to start. Ended up changing the plug for a new one and evantually it went. Then I put back the original plug and she continues to run just fine.

I know youre not road legal but is there anywhere you can safely bump start it...with a new plug in.

is yours one of the old round slide carburettors with a choke nob?

use the choke, no throttle
