Alright there lads, I've got a technical question for you mechanics.

Right now, I can't afford to buy a sports exhaust for my R125, but I've seen on another forum someone that you can cut the exhaust down to make the sound better.

I can give pictures of my own bike if needed (just not at this time)

The mod consists of cutting down the little tube poking out of the end of the end cap down to the main silencer body, it's about 3 inches of pipe that goes missing.

Idea being the exhuast gasses expand in the cap, rather than straight out of the back. You can test it by holding the cap a few inches away from the exhaust, it gives a lovely sound I can only describe as a slapping pop, like on a dirtbike.

What I want to know is: Are there any DOWNSIDES to doing this? I've heard a rumour of backpressure changes from doing so. The opening won't change size, just length.

i have a virago 125 with a straight piece of pipe and its actually made mine faster so i would say no major downsides but dont quote me as im on a cruiser
