During a general going over, I checked the speedo cable to find it loose. I'm talking about the nut holding the cable to the wheel housing. It was not too far from coming right off and I dont doubt a replacement cable would not be cheap.

Just a simple thing to check but easily missed.

The cable is actually about $12. $17.59 if you order it from bike bandit. Food for thought.

£9 off ebay

and a bitch to fit

Easy as pie to fit. You just need a piece of string.

Somewhere in one of my posts is a page-long article on how to do it. I'm not gonna write it now, as it's almost 3am, but do a Search and you should find it easy enough ;)

yea so long as your string dont snap halfway through like mine did lol

I'm sure I said 'sturdy cord' or something :D

Actually, I just tried to Search for it myself (now it's a sensible hour in the day) and it seems posts past a certain date actually get deleted now. That's REALLY fucking annoying, as several of us had spent hours writing precise, detailed guides on how to do various useful things on our respective bikes....

That is really annoying as I used ttasky's instructions to help me do the xvs125 carb joint. Fortunately I took pics of me doing the carb joint which includes using string for the Speedo cable (which will be a pain in the a$$ to do without). Here's the link to the pics I took
