you need a long bar with a nut welded on it the same size as the damper rod,from memory i think yams are 17 or 19mm.if you cant make something like that you could try putting fork leg in a vice and compressing it to load spring and damper rod up,then try undoing allen bolt,this has worked for me in the past.

Thank you, however now sorted...took the leg to my local garage and borrowed an impact driver.....it soon rattled it off.
