agconor
Hey everyone, The 1996 XJ600S I just bought is leaking oil after going for a ride. First, I am a complete newb so please excuse my ignorance. The oil is coming from the seam right below the oil level window. I am not sure what it is. The engine is running fine and there is lots of power. The engine light is not going on. What could it be? What can I do? And, what tools do I need to do it?

agconor
I'm in Ontario, Canada so I would go to Canadian Tire if they had the materials needed.
mike1949
It "seams" like your clutch cover gasket needs replacing. It's a simple enough job to do but a bit fiddly when putting the cover back on because the clutch release lever needs to be realigned. In all honesty if you are unsure how to go about it take it to your local dealer, it should take no more than 30 minutes. The engine oil doesn't need to be drained if you put bike on the side stand.
