fastfzzzer Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hi, I have ridden motorcycles since I was a kid and have owned a few. A few years ago I had to sale my 2001 FZ1 due to financual reasons. I have since picked up two barn finds that I am restoring. The first is a 1978 XS-400 which is also the first street bike I ever owned back in 1978. I am doing it Cafe style and am progressing slowly as I have funds available. I recently poured a new seat pan for it as the stock one was too rusted to salvage. The biggest headache so far was the rear master sylinder which was totally coroded. I used a universal rear mastercyclinder from Mikes XS and machined some custom mounts and linkage and I think it works better than the stock one. The second is a 1980 XS-650 which I havn't done anything to yet. I am still undecided as to how I am going to retore this one, cafe? bobber? stock? Anyways I am discovering that durring the long rainy season we have here, fixing up a bike is the next best thing to riding! I will post some before and during pics as soon as I can, but I dont have after pics yet. C
