ben523
Hi, can anyone explain why my ybr 125 makes a "grating" noise when shifting down from 5th to 4th (this sequence only). I have changed the oil with yamaha semi-synthetic oil and is maintained regularly. any help appreciated!
Moderator Airhead Posted April 8, 2011 Moderator Share Posted April 8, 2011 Try increasing the revs with a little 'blip' of the throttle during ANY downshifting (not up shifting) it helps a lot

slice
Because your trying to get a fast spinning shaft to connect to a slow spinning shaft and if you "BLIP" the throttle then the two shafts usually line up better than if you just bang it into gear. Look up a video on YOUTUBE if you really want to know how a gearbox works.
