A few questions. Looking at a bike that a local Junkyard has for sale. It appears to have been laid down somewhat hard. The front right fairing is cracked and has small pieces missing here and there. Right side rearview mirror is busted off of the mounting arm. Secondary seat is missing. (The elevated seat cushion above the one the rider would sit on. The windscreen is cloudy (just looks like from age) and there is a Red wire that is sticking out from under the gas tank overhang on the right side (looks like it might have gone to the battery, it's bare at the end that is sticking out.) The hand grips are very worn. It has 78k on the odometer.

It does have a clean title. It's never been stolen. The frame looks straight (from what I can see without taking the fairings off. The handlebars are still straight.

He wants $200, it's missing the battery so I can't start it. Anyone have any idea what this bike would be worth, is it worth taking a chance on. I have a friend who has a Suzuki GSR, might be able to get him to take it over and see if we can use his battery to get this other bike fired up.

I don't know if anyone on here also has access to the unlimited carfax, but the VIN is JYA3HHE02NA042034 if anyone can get a check on that. I have a friend that told me some forums have people who have carfax access, so I thought I would throw that out there as well.

What is the value of a 19 year old 600R? Are they known for their longevity? 78k sounds like a pretty high number for a pleasure bike. I'm not so worried about the plastic as I am about any mechanical/electrical issues that these bikes may be known for?

Hi

I owned an Fzr with far less mileage than that, Paid 150 gbp for it, with little or no damage. 78k is alot, and by sounds it probably wasn't very well cared for, with that kind of mileage i'd

check if engine and frame numbers match

If its been thrown down the road i'd inspect the alloy frame very carefully for cracks and bends

They are pretty bulletproof, and a joy to own, but if i were you i wouldn't want to pay more than a few beers for it as it'll cost you a bit to get it back to scratch

If engine is original a rebuild will be a must, as with carbs, all bearings etc

Not a weekend job, but they are worth it, stupidly quick and handle great

Ok, here are some pictures of the bike that I took a few minutes ago. (In the rain, so they might not look the greatest.)

I keep getting "Image extension not allowed on this forum" what image type do I need to be using?

You need to have paid subscription or upload em to photobucket i think

i've had a look, its not that much of a horror, though its been dropped it looks like it wasnt moving, dropped of its stand likely

that wire judging by it gauge was probs just a security alarm thing or kill switch, looks too thin to be the live to the battery

mileage is a worry judging by condition its done alot of long trips, exhaust seems good so maybe has been maintained

Again match the numbers

$150 to $200 is ok if you're not afraid of a wrench

do check the frame rails under that big hole they carry alot of weight and stress

Definitely not afraid of a wrench. Never afraid of a little grease either. Thanks for the input though. I'll see if I can talk the guy down from $200, since there is so much that needs to get done. The only other thing I have to do is talk my wife into letting me get a bike... *fingers crossed*
