Guest JMW Posted November 17, 2004 Posted November 17, 2004 Can anyone verify this ? I bumped into an old pal and he said he's just finished convalesing after suffering 2 detached retinas. He said he woke up one morning, sneazed violently twice and went blind. After calling the doctor and being rushed to hospital he was told he had torn the retinas off the backs of his eyes - I instantly felt queasy ! He then tells me they operated right away, they sucked out the Vitreous Humor which is the jelly inside the main part of the eyes, pulled the eye balls out and reattached the retinas and then filled each eye ball with a gas after putting them back in the sockets. The gas is naturally absorbed by the body and the space gradually refills with jelly. He said he had to lif flat on his back for 16 weeks and not move or sit upright..... sounds like hell to me. Is this plausable or is he pulling my chain ? J
