Hi to everybody..I am a new member and never asked any questions before, but perhaps there can be somebody to help me..I hae got a 1991 xj 600 pre diversion,I have turned it into a street fighter, have made a 4 into 2 exhaust system and made 2 stubby end cans..also I have fitted chrome air filters although they are not k&n ones..my problems is that when cold the bike is an absolute nightmare to start, but when it has started it will start all the time,I have checked all compressions and are all around 150 lb,valve clearances are also ok,it also seems to struggle to reach any kind of decent high speed,I have stripped all the carbs down and cleaned just about all the jets..a specialist although not a dealer has told me that the problems are most likely being caused by the carbs not being set up to run with single chrome filters, and has strongly advised me to put the original airbox back on the bike, can any body help with my problems...thanks a lot..Rob...

Hi

I also own one of these with the same setup up and you do need to change the jets to stage 3, dynojet do a kit but its not cheap, poor cold starting might just be down to a weak battery, i found that with mine

pod filter setup shouldnt cause poor starting usually starts ok but lumpy or idles way too high,

Investigate battery start it from cold off a jump pack and see if it makes any difference
