Ryan Johnson Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Hi everybody!!! I just wanted to introduce myself. I am a newby to this website and the motorcycle world. So I got my license by taking a safety course a few months back. I've always wanted to try riding, and I really enjoyed the course, so I decided to get a bike. I'm a student so cash is tight, but I found an old Yamaha xs400sg that I thought was in good shape. Thinking back I paid too much, since I didn't know a thing about bikes. And seeing as how I've spent about 300 on fixing it up... But anyway, I like the bike I think it is a great starter bike. But I'm still in the middle of fixing her up. Since this is my first time, I'm having some difficulties, but overall it's a great learning experience. However I want to get her running strong for the spring and summer. I'll list everything I did so far, and hope everyone can help me out to get her going strong. So far. Brakes (front only) Oil Oil filter Battery Air filters Intake work And Carb cleaning. However I think I screwed up the carb cleaning... I am planning to take out the carbs again and try to get them right... Anyway, thanks for reading. If I get a chance I'll try and post some pics of the bike. Later Ryan
xv535 Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Hey Ryan Welcome to the site. I think you will really enjoy it as it is a good source of repair knowledge and, of course, jokes and humour. Sounds like you are having fun getting your bike ready. The nice thing about owning a bike is it is both fun to ride and a lot of fun to work on (well, most of the time ). Post some pictures, eh.
