Ryan Johnson Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hi everyone, I'm new to the motorcycle world, and thought I'd start by buying an 80 xs400. It's seems to be a good bike, but it had some reving issues when I would be riding. So I looked around and saw that it might be the carbs... Well being a man I decided that I could fix this myself... So I took off the carbs, replaced the joints and the rubber tubing from the air filters to the carbs, the air filters. (I also did some other things , but nothing that has to do with the carbs) As for the carbs themselves. I took them apart and boiled them in lemon juice to clean them out, replaced all of the pieces, measured the floats to 1.26inches and put it back together... But now when I start the bike on full choke I get a 5000 plus rpm, that slowly creeps up... I tried to turn off the choke, or go half choke, but doing either of that just shuts off the engine... I am assuming that I merely messed up on adjusting the floats. But I was wondering if I may have messed anything else up? Or if there could be something else wrong with the bike? Any and all help is appreciated. Ryan
