XT125R '59 Plate' headlight - HELP ??

I have a 59 Plate Yamaha XT 125 R . It has a HS1 12V 35W bulb for the headlight, which clearly the 35W bit is the problem... basically my visabillity on dark roads even with full beam is awful, i find myself driving and suddenly i see a corner,suddenly see the curb , suddenly see the white line.

Any one know what bulb I can put in to make visabillity much better & that wont melt the cabling if it gets too hot? or do I need a Xenon kit ? Or do I need a better bulb be re-wire the headlight?
