What's the best way to clean yz 80 1987 wheels , bit of surface rust here and there but the main prob is the spokes! Need the cheapest way possible please

Best way for me would be a good chrome cleaner, I use 'Belgom Chroom' and follow that by regular applications of Rim Wax. I would use this on both rims and spokes.

Dont persist on using abrasives on the spokes as they will only ever come up to a certain standard and if they are rusty...thats it, replace or be happy

I think it's surface rust though! I've heard a few people talk about using brasso even though it's for brass apparently it's good

The point is...only use it for an initial clean, it's abrasive. use washing and waxing on a regular basis to keep it nice.

Thanks for the tip! Well I've started to clean and repaint bits today, handlebars were a mess so I've stripped them down , now Ive done the primer just waiting to put first coat on!!! I don't think the bike had been touched in 20+ years , so alot of cleaning and respraying to do! But one good thing is that the engine is spot on, it's so quick powerbands are perfect, lifts up with no incouragment needed! Just need to clean the engine but not sure what with!

soapy waters good..

engine.
