I recently had the carbs on my V reg Xs500 cleaned.This sorted out the problem of starting the bike when cold as the choke wasn't working.

However now when the bike has been run for 5 or 10 minutes it will often just stop running despite seeming to be ok. When it does this it will not restart on the electric start or even kick start untill it has gone cold enough to warrant the use of the choke again.

Often after turning it over and then switching it off will cause a large backfire.

Any ideas will be gratefully accepted.

First thing I would try is richening the idle mixture.
