Due to my numerous requests to Japan's Yamaha factory and to Japan's Commerce and Industry Association I've been give the same reply on my issue. That is: there were no VIN code for the engine in some particular models of motorcycles manufactured in Japan. The list of the models: YAMAHA TTR250 (years of origin: 1993-2001) YAMAHA FZR250 (years of origin: 1989-2001) YAMAHA TDR250 (tears of origin: 1988-1993) You can take this information in your consideration while checking the bike before buying it. The only identification on the engine can be found are the letters or digits like: 4GY, 1KT or other.
