hi peeps i have an ultra short pipe on my 2001 R1,(bloody gorgeous) on a run last week the rev counter was reading 7000-zero, but it cleared after a few miles. the manual says this is an ex-up valve problem, it says it may cause engine damage ?? how serious is this, was thinking it is not recognising the short pipe i have got on, just dont want to fit the old pipe back on it, (well not until the first POOLE meeting anyhow. cheers rolls

I take it with the short pipe you still have the exup valve fitted and connected?

The rev counter going blank shows that there is a system fault; could be because the ecu lost contact with the exup valve. maybe a loose connection?
