DoopsYZ250 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hey guys, new to the forum, and I have a question. I'm working on a 2000 WR 400 and it's simply not turning over. I've changed the gas, and spark plug on it (thank you Yamaha for the hardest plug in the world to remove,) but still no fire. Now I know that its getting air, and everything mechanical is working properly because it "turns over" when you kick it. So I'm thinking its electrical. Is there any way for me to check the ignition coil(?)? Some basic info, bikes had one owner, and has mostly storage time. Low low low riding hours sense it was bought. I know its not the best on them, but I've even tried the rolling start for it, and nothing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you all for your time.
Moderator Airhead Posted January 25, 2011 Moderator Posted January 25, 2011 Has it run at all? how old is the fuel?
DoopsYZ250 Posted January 26, 2011 Author Posted January 26, 2011 New gas, and it was running 2 years ago when it was stored.... sigh. Yes, they stored it for 2 years. I did end up getting a new ignition coil, the old one was barely holding a current. Still not turning over. I'm still thinking its some sort of relay/electrical problem.
Moderator Airhead Posted January 27, 2011 Moderator Posted January 27, 2011 2 years may be long enough to need a carb strip / clean, does the plug get wet with fuel, oh and what about the spark...nice big blue spark?
