Hi Guys

New to this forum, but in the middle of rebuilding a 1982, DT125MX. Coming to the replacemnet electrics and looking for a nos or good used cdi unit for this bike, does anyone now where I can get one from, apart from ebay, or is there a equivalent unit being made today that will suffice

Welcome to the 'ward' Ian, cant help with the CDI I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will be along in due course to help out

Are you aware that it is the same CDI as a later version DT175?

and have you done all the checks because replacing the CDI is the very last thing to do if you have no spark.

CDI's can be costly

second hand they go for silly money on ebay, but when I wanted one earlier this year I eventually got one from Thailand off ebay. Works great , cost about a tenner, and was actually delivered within a week. I dont know if Yam sell them anymore but no doubt they will be expensive. Hope this is of some use. Cheers

It will be 6 wires mark part# 3J0 85540 20

and I still say everything else should be eliminated first, but i will add that Ian was a little bit 'economical' with what he said and for all I know his could be missing

I've had a few bits now and no probs

Rex's Speed Shop will have the DT 125/175 Cdi unit for sale mid Feb if thats any use to you. It will be priced at around £60-85. we can test your old unit free of charge (you pay for return postage) if you want it checked out. Go to the website for contact details.
