X = 4 stroke

Rd = race developed

Havent a clue if theres a a catalogue of all the model letters and their meanings, but I did find this while searching

its vaguely interesting, in a vaguely interesting kinda way

it's just that I have ridden Yamaha nearly all my life, since 1975.

and now a neighbour comes along and says he bought himself a XJR1300 and he insists that it is a V twin.

so I had an argument with him and told him that he does not have a clue because it's a inline 4.

he is one of them sort of people who know everything......

but I can't remember seeing him riding a bike before.

I just thought I make a point.

I ride XS 750 and I'm very happy with the bike, I have 4 of them.

The sound is great.

Not only inline 4 but is it not a transverse shafty too?, not easy to put round a corner, I've had a go

You aint doing it right BWJ, its not the size of the engine in your bike that matters, its the size of the balls in your leathers!

No, the XJR is chain drive, the XS 750, 850 and 1100's are shaft drive. And while there are some strange handling characteristics with the shafties, you can learn to handle them just fine once you know how they will react in a given situation.
