Posted December 6, 201014 yr recently got my lad a yamaha aerox 50cc moped. well he left it in a car park yesterday and was locked in overnight so basically it was stuck outside in about -10 degrees. i went to get it for him just and it started after a few attempts and i rode it home for him on the way, it cut out twice and the temp light is staying on?? its now in the garage and it still starts first time but the temp light is still on and it wont tick over, it cuts out with a bit of a click as itcuts out!!?? so my question is, as i know next to nothing about these things, have i done some serious damage? does it just need to stay in garage to 'thaw out' for a while? i'm not sure if its liquid cooled or not either so is something frozen? any help would be greatly appreciated cheers in advance barca99
December 6, 201014 yr Author temp light stays off now and it ticks over, so im assuming all is well. cheers anyway
December 6, 201014 yr I know nothing about the bike I'm afraid, however antifreeze is rated to quite extreme tempretures these days, (I assume it's a liquid cooled engine) hope everything is, and stays OK.
December 6, 201014 yr What model ? keep an eye on temp , if it was frozen [ due to weak anti-freeze mix ] damage might still be done:huh: , short run to see if over-heating occurs,
December 9, 201014 yr Author hi thanks for the replies. my lad has taken it out for a short ride and yeah, the temperature light is coming on and the bike keeps cutting out!!!! any ideas please cheers
December 9, 201014 yr Moderator Check the oil and water levels for starters.... If its too hot the fuel will vaporise and the engine cuts out......
December 9, 201014 yr Yip " sounds like head gasket , or the water impeller,[ pump] you need a manual, to find location of said items, i"v seen cars with plastic impellers, sheared when frozen , eg, poor circulation.. then boils - then head gasket blows, all for £10er"s worth of Anti-freeze , u need to see if an aerox has one tho.
December 10, 201014 yr iff you can find the bottom hose, pull that off instead. remove filler cap, shake bike around a few times, then slowley fill it back up. { don't forget to put antifreez back in} or it will f-ck up.....
