Hi everyone :D

Just a quick post to say hello, I'm hoping to pick up an 81' DT 125 tomorrow so I'm sure I'll be full of stupid questions for the next while although looking at some of the excellent info on this forum hopefully there shouldn't be too many.

I'm off to have a read and see if I can find some things to look out for when I view the bike, haven't had any dealings with a 2 stroke since I was about 15 and a Bultaco gave me a few bumps and bruises

Thanks guys :thumb: I'm from the west of Ireland and to be honest I don't know too much about the bike other than it's an 81 DT125 that's had a rebore done. I've seen a pic of it and it looks in very good nick. The guy selling it is on another forum I'm on and seems to be a fairly straight bloke to deal with, good reputation so I'm taking him at his word. To be honest I'm just looking for a bit of a project for the winter. For the money it's going for I'll learn alot stripping and servicing it and trying to get it in tip top shape and if worst comes to worst I reckon I could still make my money back on it breaking it for parts(hopefully it won't come to this). I had great fun messing about on my cousin's and uncle's bikes years ago and now I have a chance to start from scratch with a bike and hopefully have something to play with when the surf's not up to much :D

From Co Clare. I'm not 100% but I think it was a Sherpa 350cc but I could be wrong. My cousin also had an Armstrong 240 trials bike, we used to tear around the bog or go for a spin in the forestry near us. I do remember the Bultaco used to go WOT when it was running out of fuel, scared the crap out of me the first time I rode it. I thought the throttle had jammed on it and I couldn't get the thing to stop.

Welcome 81dt". Yeh and thats the motor leaning out " lack of fuel-and too much air. Thats what race bikes have to find, The leanest it can run,[ for max perfomance] Without seizure,
