Posted November 15, 201014 yr Hi folks. Trying to use the bike daily for as long as possible before conceding defeat for the winter. Any recommendations for good tyres for this kinda weather? I ride rural / main roads to work.
November 15, 201014 yr Conti Road Attacks are quite nice for commuting... They wont stop you sliding it around on an icy road though.
November 16, 201014 yr Avon make some pretty good tyres and are often reknowned for their excellent grip in all weathers. They last ages, too!!
November 16, 201014 yr Conti TKC80's have superb grip on winter roads.... they are going to look very odd on your bike though!! What you should look for is something soft, as a rule of thumb (and not always correct) the longer a tyre lasts the harder the compound. On winter roads normal tyres never reach optimum temperature, this is why some countries specify 'winter tyres' as they heat up even in the exteme cold. On a bike these are normally accompanied with spikes, so realy not what you want. The alternative is to find a realy soft compound that will last the winter and need replacing in the spring. If this is any help to you I don't know.....
