Hello everyone, I'm new to the Yamaha Owner's Club because I've just bought my 'new' Yamaha ;-) Well, it's not 'New', it's a 1991 model, but it's my new baby B)

Please can anyone advise me on where to find parts for it? Apparently it's a pre-diversion. I've searched fleabay and eveything on there seems to be for the diversion or newer. I urgently need a Coil and a CDI unit, were the same ones fitted to any other model? I hope so because it would widen my options a little. Is there anywhere that specialises in pattern parts for old Yams? Or anyone with a head full of usefull info I could pester?

Thank you :P

Thanks... Typical  Every search I do, I find something different. I hadn't seen that one, but unfortunately he hasn't got what I need. He's sold them already :(

welcome mike fill in the rest of your profile so we know where you are from etc.

for parts for 91/92 xj600 you cant do better than wemoto link below.

Thank you, I've saved that site to my favourites :) For the moment, I think the XJ is a runner except for the CDI and coil, it's the CDI that's proving most difficult to find so far. I've e-mailed loads of breakers so I'm hopefull. I've got the impression that this CDI was only used for 90/91 models, which makes them a bit rare.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why they died? It coincided with poping most of the light bulbs and fuses and a very dry battery. When I bought it, the guy said he'd had a new battery recently, but I didn't think to check it immediately. A week later and I'm off the road. It is just possible that he fitted it dry, but we'll never know. The other possible, is that it may have boiled dry, and that's quite worrying, because that'll mean I haven't found the cause yet. Any suggestions are worth checking out.

For genuine Yamaha parts you can't go wrong with Fowlers of Bristol. Although genuine Yamaha parts are expensive at least you know they are the best. Fowlers seem to have 95% of parts in stock and their mail order is second to none.
