63-Coupe
A couple of weeks ago I went to start my 82 XS400SJ and when it fired it ran rough, had no power, and would backfire. It did seem to run smooth if I got it up to over 4500 RPM with no load. I had to leave it and went away for a couple of weeks and now I cannot get it to fire at all. It looks like I have spark on both sides, I have a full flow of gas when I put the petcock into the "Prime" position (Tried to start it there as well), the fuel is clean and recent, and the battery is well charged. I am pretty skilled at 4 wheelers but am a relative newbie on 2 wheelers. Before I start running off on wild goose chases can anybody tell me which direction to start in? mightymouse
Had one of those back in the 80's - good bike to learn on. Had a similar problem that went away after I installed new spark plugs (old ones were shot). Good luck
