September 21, 201014 yr A lot of military places employ civvy caterers. Might be worth a look in, mate... im not taking the piss here, but is there an age limit on things like that.
September 23, 201014 yr More bad news. When my wife was collecting her wages today, she was told that she is on the hit list for being let go in 3 weeks time. He said,,,, "things were getting tight",,,,,, But yet his business was in the local paper 2 months ago for being in the top 5 earners in the county just under the €500,000 bracket.

September 24, 201014 yr How about teaching? lecturers are getting £18.70 for a 1 hour lecture at college. And you get evenings and weekends off Sorry about the news Drewpy. The whole college lecturer thing is quite a good idea. check out tesjobs.co.uk, if thats a route you might wanna take. Sorry to hear about your predicament Drewpy. I wouldn't rush into the teaching arena though - I work at a college and we've had redundancies here for the last two years running, due to massive cuts in government funding. Might be better up in your area, but down here people are leaving education in droves because there's no job security any more. Although saying that, it seems to be mainly FE colleges that are affected - schools and universities not so much.

September 24, 201014 yr Moderator its everywhere I'm a bit numb to the redundancy thing, ND basically keep you guessing at 12weeks notice. So the longest i can gaurantee i'm in work for at any one time is 3 months. Been like that for nigh on 3 years.
September 24, 201014 yr Hi Drewps. There's nothing I can say that everyone else hasn't already said. The only reassuring thing I can say is, as you are a chef, there are only two things everybody must do, no matter how rich or poor they are, is eat and die. I don't know how old you are Drewps, but can you remember in about 1971/72 four RN Submarines came up the Manchester ship canal and docked there for a week. I was on one of them, "HMs/m PORPOISE" (my avitar)

September 25, 201014 yr thats' weird, did you put on a party for some kids. I remember being interupted in french class and I got took to salford quays and we got a trip round a sub and had a little party afterwards!! ( I saw my first porno calender then too!!) Yes we did. I thought it was for a local orphanage but I might be wrong. Each boat had two celebrities from Coronation Street, we had Bernard Youles(Stan Ogden) and Alan Browning(not sure of the character name) who I think was one of Elsie Tanners Husbands. We had a whip round and bought games for them to take back with them, When we were seeing the kids off at the end of the party a little girl came up to me in tears because she didn't have any but one boy who had four boxes of games wouldn't let her have one. I tried to get him to part with a couple but he refused, after a few words with him he threw the lot into the canal saying that if he couldn't have them nobody else will either. Also one of the boats was an "A" class submarine which was decommisioning departed with a "Fore sail" (for sale) sign on her and fired toilet rolls from her deck gun.
