davidrp Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Okay this is what happened : I rode the bike, then I got home and it started raining, I did not cover the bike (bad choice i know) it rained for 3 days straight, then it stopped and I said i'll go ride! I turn on the bike turn on the choke so that the engine can heat up before I leave with the bike, everything starts normally, bike has high RPM to heat up the engine, then all of a sudden the bike lowers the RPM slowly and then it turns off, then I try to start up again and the bike tries to start but it wont start. so far this is what I have tried : 1 - Changed all 4 CR8E NGKR Spark plugs (4 new ones installed) STILL DOESNT WORK. 29.00$ 2 - Checked if the gas lines were passing gas through them and yes (all lines were checked) STILL DOESNT WORK. 3 - Emptied my tank completely and when to the gas station to get new supreme gas and added new gas in the tank, STILL DOESNT WORK. 10.00 4 - Checked all wires to see if they were plugged and good, they were all good. STILL DOESNT WORK. 5 - tried countless times to jump start with my car. STILL DOESNT WORK. 6 - I removed a spark plug check to see if it would spark when i click the ignition, and YES it sparks. STILL DOESNT WORK. | 7 - I removed a spark plug I manually add gas to the spark plug hole and put the spark back in place but. STILL DOESNT WORK. its been days since it rained and now im covering the bike, but still no luck. ( i just spent 500$ on my car's thermostat housing and cooling liquid so out of cash ) now this is what happends when i try to start it : 1 - key on ignition ON position, all but the main low beam light turns on, the light only works on high beam. 2 - I click the ignition, i hear a click, but the bike also tries to turn on i hear the engine trying but it doesnt turn on RPM will not even move.., i will make a video tomorrow of the sounds it does when i try to turn it on. if me adding the video will help anyone to help me diagnose the problem let me know and ill do it right now, thanks!
chris66 Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 water could have got in your tank, as fuel sits on water your carbs would have been filled partially with this water causing it to cut out. undo the drain screws on each carb and empty them. if you have got to the problem quickly this maybe all it takes unfortunately it doesn't take long for the water to block the jets etc and a strip may be necessary. i may be wrong but this is a real possibility . chris
jattie Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 From what you describe I would be inclined to agree, sound like fuel starvation. Soemthing is stopping the fuel from getting to the combusion chamber. Close off the the tank fuel tap and open the drain valve on the bottom of the carbs, you might be lucky and flush it out. Repeat a couple of times. If that fails you might have to remove and clean the carbs.
