Skyeswom Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 No matter how warm the engine is, or how long it's run, it chugs and dies at low RPMs - stop lights, parking lots, etc. I have to rev it while holding in the clutch or the engine will quit. Spark plugs 2 & 3 are a little bit black; 1 & 4 are relatively clean. Could it be the jets in the carburetor? Any suggestions? I'd like to be able to ride without worrying about it quitting. . .
chris66 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 pilot/ idle jets dirty is usually the cause, have you tried turning the tick over up
Skyeswom Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 pilot/ idle jets dirty is usually the cause, have you tried turning the tick over up thanks. Is that something I could do myself, or do I need to take it in?
chris66 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 try turning the tickover screw up first just in case its as simple as that. the pilot jets are reasonably easy to clean but it helps if you have access to a air compressor to blow them out and the tools and knowhow to remove the carbs. chris
