Posted August 9, 201014 yr Hi everyone, just bought an off road dt125 2001. On my second outing the bike seemed to just cut out and lock up, I put the bike in neutral but the kick start was locked and wouldn't budge at all ! Does anyone know what this could mean and what action I should ?
August 9, 201014 yr Moderator Ouch, sounds bad! Could be seized. Take the exhaust off...see if you can see and breakage or scoring of the piston
August 10, 201014 yr Yep sounds seized check the piston as said before, if the bike is locked up and wont turn the engine whilst pushing and engaged in gear then its never good. I have sent the kickstart mech break and jam in side the casing but check piston first. Is it the 2 stroke oil in the tank behind the right rad scoop model?? If it is the worst case and the engines looking bad, got two dt125 engines avaialble pm me for deatils. Might be able to get you back on the thing cheap with a swap.
August 10, 201014 yr Author Thanks for the info, will have a look as soon as I get a chance! Yes it is the model with the 2 stroke tank at front, is that the same models engines you have available ?
