November 19, 201014 yr Leather Rat Board? Not a chance! I laughed out loud. I had no idea it was so complicated, I just figured it was slang for monetary units equivilant to what we use. It's not even close. I mean we have loonies and toonies but there nowheres neer as cool as 2 Bob and a Tanner! If you want to go back even farther, there was a farthing,(a small coin with a wren on it) which was a quarter of a 1d. For that you could buy 1 blackjack or even a fruit salad in the 1950's. As my surname is Tanner, whilst in the RN in the 60's/70's I was either called Bob or Elsie (Coronation street)
