Hi Folks,

Being new to this forum, I see that a lot of very good people a working on bikes all over the world.

Hence, I need HELP!

I have a Yamaha TDR125 3SH (Italia?) Frame No. 001583 3SH, engine No. 001611 3SH. It's probably a UK import from 1990.

I got the bike in several boxes probably a year ago, and have been doing my best to get the bike back on its wheels.

So far all is good.

I have it all wired up, but when is use the kickstart, I get no spark at the plug. The indicator lights are working and the switch for the side stand works as is the oil level switch.

Any ideas are welcome at this stage.

I have tried a new spark plug and have tried 3 different ignition coils (since these are common to fail, accoring to the local yamaha dealer)

When I turn the key, there is a little "click" from a relay at the back of the bike followed by a little "grunt" from somewhere near the engine. It sounds like something is turning in position, could be YVPS?

When it is wire up and I turn it over, the orange lead from the CDI (connecting to spark plug) gives me a reading of max 3.85 Volts (volt meter set to 20V), I thought this should fluctuate between 0 and 12V?

Can anybody help? Would pictures of the bike help?

I have several manual with it but they are from the worng year. The closed to my model is a very large wiring diagram which would require serious brains, as the colour codes are for Italian, UK, German and Frence bikes, which seems to be rather diffrent.
