NEwin Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 hey guys, As part of a long stretch of problem solving I'm gonna remove, dismantle and clean the carb. I've got a haynes manual, but this is the first time I've ever done this so I was wondering if anyone had any particular advice? cheers!
Moderator drewpy Posted June 21, 2010 Moderator Posted June 21, 2010 don't force anything don't poke anything clean outside first peeps have boiled in lemonjuce/water combo and it came out good (google it) I recommend ultrasonic cleaning, saved a lot of hassle my last carb was vapour blasted and looks the business get a rebuild kit with all the jets first and check sizes against the manual use compressed air to clean through and also carb cleaner's got its use there drewps
happysnapper Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I stripped al the parts of my DT250 and put them with out any rubber bits in a pan with lemon juice (that jiff stuff you get at the supermarket) simmer for 5 mins and drain! Came out a treat, with dull finish but polished up great. When cool blasted out all the holes with a small can of compressed air.
