Anyone out there know if the gauges for a 1982 xs400 are compatible with those of a 1978 xs400?

    Fitment, primarily. I guess accuracy has more variables involved.

    I'm guessing, the tach would be accurate, but the speedo less so?

    most yamaha speedos run at 2:1 so it should be accurate.

    You only get problems if you change wheel diameter
