Hi all,

I have a 1990 Fj1200A

The problem came around the other week. When riding along I got a sudden whiff of petrol (actually so much I thought I left the fuel cap off)

Anyway it turned out to be pissing all its fuel out.

No big deal I thought, maybe just stuck floats!!

NO!!

Two weeks later same scenario

I had the fuel tank re sealed and cleaned along with the carbs and new filters and pipes put on.

Once again a week later same fault!!

I have now had all the rubbers changed and the fuel pump as well!!

NOPE STILL DID NOT CURE IT

Now Im thinking about converting to gravity feed to rule out the fuel pump (unless anybody has one I could try)

Any tips on this type of conversion or any extras that I may need to do?

Hi this is quit a common problem on the FJ,s

You will need to take the carbs off, remove all parts and get them cleaned Ultrasonicly.

Then re-build the float bowls with new needle valves and washers, taking care that the floats are at the correct hight.

Some times when they are leaking you can give them a good tap (Float bowls) with a screw driver and that will stop it, but its probabale worn float valves (remember the bikes 20years old)

Have a look here lots of help available.
