R6s - New Rider

Hey everyone, I've been looking into getting a bike for quite sometime now. I finally ended up winning one on eBay- http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110532982765&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

It's a 2008 R6s with 7500 miles for $4150. I'm assuming this is a good deal, right? I'll have to pay around $1000 for shipping since I live in Canada and it's in the US.

I realize a 600cc bike isn't the greatest starting bike in the world, but I do consider myself mature and smart enough to not pull some stupid ••••. I will also be taking a riding course.

Anyways.. I'm wondering if this is a good deal? Also, what brand riding gear would you all recommend?
