chrisr
Removed the rear hub recently (Dragstar 650) to renew an oil seal and noticed that the splines on the bevel gear were very badly worn/damaged. I asked my local dealer about replacement parts. He made enquiries and was horrified to learn that gears are not supplied separately and the entire unit has to be replaced. Cost? Wait for it - £1200! Yamaha Motors UK said that 60000 miles was a reasonable life expectancy for the assembly. Any thoughts/advice? Chrisr
Ttaskmaster
Thoughts... FUCK ME, that's expensive!!! Advice - Breakers yards, Part Finder etc. Has it done anywhere near 60,000 miles?
Cov_AL
Ha, yeah. I had to replace the final drive unit in December and was quoted £1180 ebay: £75! near enough new condition too!! it's not a very high demand part, so breakers seemed keen to get even a few quid for it (don't let them know that you're desperate!)
