I had a oil throttle cable on my bike(1974 DT175)with a broken-off cable tip at the pump end. I made a new tip and soldered it on, but it looks like the cable is too short. Can anyone tell me how long the cable should stick out past the housing and/or total cable length? Thanks!

We just got a new replacement lower cable for my son's 1974 DT175 today. On the new cable ( with the cable disconnected on both ends and the steel cable pulled all the way through the housing as far toward the oil pump end as it will go )it measures 5 5/8" from the inner housing to the barrel end on the steel cable.
