nonstuck
Hi, New member here, but an old rider ! My '75 DT-250 jumps out of 3rd gear on acceleration. A Yamaha dealer told me if he "remembered correctly, there was some sort of detent for adjustment" behind the cover, but wasn't positive. I know I need a new clutch, as I am nearly maxxed on adjustment. But I would think that once it's in gear it shouldn't pop out, in spite of the clutch issue ? Can anyone shed any light or suggestions? I have recently moved and don't have the web at home yet, so doing a little Saturday research at work. Will be here for another 5 hours, would really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Moderator Cynic Posted March 20, 2010 Moderator Share Posted March 20, 2010 There is a detent but its just to control the actual movement of the selector drum. If its jumping out under acceleration then its the torque forcing the gear out of position and that can only happen if the dogs are worn. Sorry i can't give you a better answer , if there is anything that may help blackhat will know...
