Folks,

About to restart a 1983 XS250RK DOHC engine after 20 years rest.

I will pull the plugs and turn over gently first.

Q.Does this model have a wear problem?

Oil was changed every 3000km, oil filter every 6000.

Had it since 1985. 45000km on the clock now.

It always showed aluminium 'slime'/fine filings around the filter base, on changing.

Not a comforting find. Usually means something is wearing badly.

Cams do not have bearing shells.Wondered if it suffered from low oil pressure to the head.

Any experienced bike mechanics out there have some opinions?

Thanks.
