Hi All, As im sure you will all be able to see Im new to the site so hello :-), I have some questions about my newly aquired FZR 400, Firstly I have the two round headlights but I would like to convert to a more aggresive style and go with a single headlight, Is there an easy conversion that can be done as just the headlight or do I need a whole new fairing conversion?

Next up is what is all this numbering after the bike name like 3TJ etc? And how do I know which model is mine?

Next, Are the rear wheels all interchangeable accross the Fzr 400 range or do different years/types have different wheels?

Next just out of interest what is 'Deltabox'?

Can more aggresive fairings be taken from other bikes and put on the FZR and if so which bikes are bolt on, bolt off if there are any at all?

Thanks in Advance :-)

before the tumble weed takes over...

....deltabox is the yamaha name for the aluminium chassis used on a wide range of their sports-bikes, its to do with the cross section (i guess the fact the size of the box-section changes - delta).

Don't know much about fzr400s, i think some have the same engine mounts as the fzr600, so some people have fitted that engine for a bit more torque.

If you have two round headlights, it will not be a 3TJ but an older model, probably a 3EN.

A lot of FZR4 owners hang out over at the 400 Grey Bike forum, come on over and have a look. There should be lots more info on your bike.

Alex.

hi there as someone else said deltabox is just the frame design, you should find the model on the vin plate near the headstock. dont no about the fairings and headlight unless you are any good with a tin of filler and paint!! beware with the rear wheel as i no on the 600 there is a 18 inch on early models and 17 on the later ones! hope this helps

Bit of a late reply I know, but I might be able to help, as I have a FZR400 RR SP EXUP :)

Try jap4performance to find some different fairings, I think there might be some conversions on there but I'm not sure. Do your lights have red rings around them? If so then its an EXUP.

The numbering is the specific model, which seems unimportant but when you're looking for parts you'll have to make sure you know it or they won't fit. The last few letters of your VIN number is the model.

Different models are likely to have different wheels, like I said you really have to know what model yours is.

And the Deltabox is the Aluminium frame :)

Hope thats helpful.
