Adam Sciberras Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Hi everyone, my keys were in my jacket and the jacket was stolen from work. Bike is only a week old and so havent had a chance to get a spare cut (didn't come with one). What are my options? And does anyone know where I can find the key code. Many thanks
kishan Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 pop into your local yamaha dealership or buy a new key and barrel from http://www.yamahascooterspares.co.uk/spares/default.asp
Adam Sciberras Posted March 9, 2010 Author Posted March 9, 2010 Any idea how i get the barrel out? i looked at it and on both sides there are two little blue clips??
Ttaskmaster Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 I might have to get this done as a sticky, since everyone keeps asking about it... Your cheapest option will be a Locksmith. Go through the Yellow Pages and find a small, independant one who specialises in Auto-Locksmithing (ie vehicles). They can cut sets of keys to fit existing locks, re-pin locks and even re-code electronic ones. They must also manage this for a lower price than buying new locksets, because they'd otherwise be out of business. Yamaha will charge you a fortune for new keys.
Adam Sciberras Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Anybody know how to get the ignition barrel out? Im having trouble. The steering lock is on if that makes any difference
Ttaskmaster Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 You'll probably have to take half the bike apart. Or, you can get an Auto Lockie to impression the lock and cut you a set of keys to fit. If you live near me and if you have a metal file and a spare hacksaw blade, I could do it for you. It really is that cheap and simple.
blackhat250 Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Sorry to hi-jack your post ,, but many years ago , a mate of mine lost his keys when we were out at night, Now i was an apprentice [ plumber] at time and the journey man showed me a trick. When repairing a central heating boiler, the printed circuit had burned out, so using a pencil he traced the broken circuits, stuck it back on and hey presto it fired up , , So i unscrewed the ignition of mates bike, got a pencil from chinese takaway, penciled in between the solder dots on back of ignition , And walla " the bike fired up , all to the amazment of the disbelievers standing around ,,, Thot u wud like to kno this ,,, you learn every Day
