middleway
Hi I am rebuilding a 81 DT175, I may need to buy a new barrel, is there differences between the years? Someone told me the had a longer stroke and therefore a different barrel at some point. Also if they are different are the heads interchangable? Thanks
Moderator Airhead Posted November 20, 2009 Moderator Share Posted November 20, 2009 Mechanically all the engines are the same, the engine related differences over the years are the carb and the CDI ignition. ...Paul

Thanks It is better to track down a good second hand barrel ( they are out there) as the castings and port area's are better on the oem equipment. The only ones you can buy new are a pattern copy, which i personally don't think are worth the money.
