Cov_AL Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I'm a tad upset Riding to work on tusday morning, Pulled away from some lights - Crunch, crunch, bang, rattle, Stop. Seems I need a new final drive unit (the bit between the drive shaft and the back wheel) which cost in the region of £1200. Anyone know of anyone breaking an XVS650???
hovercad Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Hello COV_AL, New here know sod all about your bike.(In fact anything.) Was wondering if the XVS1100 drive was the same. If so may be this will help. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Yamaha-XVS1100-XVS-1100-Dragstar-06-diff-final-drive_W0QQitemZ220487980569QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item33561b9619 Nothing to do with me.Hope I havent broken any rules. Im having trouble with getting a part for an rs100. Hope you find your part. Craig
Ttaskmaster Posted October 23, 2009 Posted October 23, 2009 "How DARE you post about a bike that you don't own....... " Nah, only joking, mate - No rules about that. Good thinking with the 100, actually. Personally, I don't believe the 1100 final drive would fit, but it's worth checking out. I'd do it myself for you, but I'm off to a funeral at 12. Check the dimensions in the manuals. £1200 is a fecking lot of money Start with part finder, who will ring round loads of breakers for you.
Cov_AL Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Dealer: Final drive £1180 Coupling link £15 Shaft £128 (or something like that) eBay - the lot inc delivery £75!!! !!!WIN!!! Bike is back together - All I need to do is put some new 80w-90 oil in (which I've still got left over from the last time I did an oil change) :D Total fix cost - Parts/labour/moving bike between workshops £136.00!!!! What a relief - Thought I was gonna have to go and buy myself an xvs950... Well - I still might - but it can wait till the nice weather starts now
