c3llblock
Hello guys. I didn't see an introduction spot in the forum, but I need help asap. I'm in PA and I fear one of my last riding days will be tomorrow. Let me start with an intro. I'm a 26 yr old male. I am an Isuzu nut. I frequent in a few isuzu forums. I own a 1989 I-Mark and a 93 Isuzu pup and have owned MANY Isuzu vehicles. I own my 1980 175 DT along with a 1982 Honda 3 wheeler 125 bored 50 over. I'm still getting the 3 wheeler put back together. I love off roading and ATV riding. I got my 175 DT recently for $300 and it's in pretty good shape. It's missing somer lights and stuff and I'm putting some on it so I can street ride it also. Now with that aside here is my problem. My bike starts on the first kick every time. When I let off the throttle though she dies. I took it on a fit throwing hell ride today and it was scary as hell. If I let off the throttle completely she dies. So I rode with the throttle half tilt. What could it be? Like I said it starts on the first kick every time. I'm not too mechanically inclined so any help with pictures would be appreciated. I heard it could be the carb screw, and it could be running to lean. I don't know though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Moderator Airhead Posted October 22, 2009 Moderator Share Posted October 22, 2009 Welcome to the forum c3llblock Its hard to say for sure without seeing the problem first hand, But things to check are 1: The pilot jet is not blocked 2: The throttle stop screw is not missing or unscrewed too far (This lifts the throttle slightly to allow the motor to idle) 3: Engine crankcase seals have gone, this will cause poor running. ...Paul
Moderator Cynic Posted October 22, 2009 Moderator Share Posted October 22, 2009 I'm with Paul on this, carb related. Don't worry about crank seals they make it an arse to start.
c3llblock
Thanks for the welcome. Well even though both my Isuzu's are carb'd I have never worked on one. I'll check the throttle screw today though, and crank her up and see if she runs. I noticed the screw is out pretty far.
c3llblock
Well I messed with the throttle screw. It helped some. Not a whole lot. I can safely ride now. Although it still stalls at idle. Not sure what it could be. Any insight further would be great.
